Is It The End Of The Prematurely Aging Snake?

If you won't be prisoner to fate then go, fulfill your destiny - this is a very dramatic quote from the video which suggests that snake did in fact commit suicide at the end of his mission. Metal Gear Solid 4 is a breathtaking war game which takes the best elements of Japanese animation such as: genetically enhanced soldiers, extremely realistic battlefields, AI units and a killer story.

The main character of the game, Snake, is a genetically engineered soldier who is sent to the battlefield in the Middle East by Roy Campbell in order to put an end to Liquid Ocelot's evil plans. The problem with Liquid is that he is very powerful and operates behind organizations which are influential enough to control the five largest private military companies that fight wars for business purposes. Liquid Ocelot looks a lot like Snake; this can be attributed to the fact that he is the result of the merger between two beings: the Spirit of liquid Snake and the body of Revolver Ocelot.

Throughout the entire battle, Snake has a hard time keeping up with all the violence, this is because he is aging prematurely, this condition is caused by the nano-machines in his body and his decaying genetic makeup. Even though his genes may be perceived as a disadvantage they are in fact the reason why he sometimes is able to pull through difficult situations, that and the fact that he is extremely cunning. You can call it a blessing and a curse.

The Ending Sequence

A video that suggests that Snake does in fact commit suicide at the end of the game has been somewhat of a spoiler to some gamers; the fact of the matter is that in the video Snake says:

"One last punishment I must endure; I have to erase my genes, wipe the MEME from the face of the earth."

Then he puts a gun in his mouth and ... he fires, the real mystery to this video is that no one actually sees snake die. Many fans of metal gear solid have confirmed that there is a twist to this video and the ending of the game is "slightly different", nonetheless the ending is extremely good and most players will easily give it a 9 out of 10, if not a 10 out of 10 due to the surprisingly good story line, action-packed situations and cutting-edge technology.
